Drawing IX is an abstract, minimalist charcoal drawing on heavy handmade paper. The piece utilizes broad, sweeping black strokes contrasted with large areas of untouched, textured paper. Shweta Jain Maheshwari used thick willow charcoal sticks, applying them with swift, intuitive movements to capture a sense of wind, flight, and visual energy. The concept focuses on emptiness and space (the concept of Ma or Shunyata)—the idea that the blank, silent areas of a composition are just as expressive as the marked ones. The highly textured, deckled edges of the handmade paper add to the raw, artisanal quality of this contemporary drawing.

Every artwork by Shweta Studio is handcrafted individually. Variations in texture, surface, and finish are a natural part of the artistic process and contribute to the uniqueness of each piece.
