Sacred Harmony
About this Work
Drawing VIII is a rich charcoal and carbon pencil drawing on heavy archival paper. The piece is a study of geological formations, rock textures, and raw earth layers. Shweta Jain Maheshwari used hard carbon pencils to carve sharp, rocky edges and soft charcoal to represent deep, mysterious crevices and cave-like voids. The concept is based on geological time—how the earth slowly layers, fractures, and preserves history under immense pressure. The resulting composition has a powerful, stony texture and strong physical presence, showing the heavy, raw materiality of the landscape on paper.
